Military used pigs to test body armor

I read this article in USA Today on the way to work yesterday. Pretty shocking. Apparently the U.S. military strapped body armor to pigs, loaded them up in humvees and blew them up to see if wearing body armor decreased or increased the risk of head injury during an explosion.
